Technorati

This was certainly something different... am curious to know who 'owns' this site. Some amazing stuff - enjoyed looking at Boing Boing website > weird > www.technabob.com/blog. There were some weird and amazing inventions. I have saved Technorati to me favourites as a curious customer is bound to ask me for information and some 'weird and amazing inventions' (not....!)

Del.icio.us

Well I've had a look at Del.icio.us and decided that I would much rather use my regular favourites on my chosen browser (i.e. either at home or work). Didn't think this would really be terribly useful --- however there were quite a few interesting links (other people's blogs) that I had a nosey into...

Sandbox

My blogspot is now in the wiki as a favourite blog ------ or not.
On the other hand it was another useful tool to use to nosey in to other favourite blogs.

Discovering a few Wikis

Interesting and potentially very useful.
Of course I enjoyed the Princeton Library booklovers site - good reviews - another useful source. Found the Library Success link to Durham County Strategic Plan most interesting. Potentially the Library Success wiki is one I'll probably visit regularly.

Flickr Acknowledgement

This is to acknowledge the photographer who took that brilliant shot of my previous hometown.
Her name is Shandy Lashley. She encapsulated the beauty of our local beach - including the surf which is a favourite location of surfers - both local and overseas.

Visit Southern Africa in Rollyo

Completed......with teeth gritted. Painfully slow in getting suitable websites. Managed to loose my workpage completely and had to start all over again. Not easy doings this with constant interruptions at work. Anyway it's done.

Library of my Favourites

My Library Thing Catalogue

Brilliant!!
This was so easy for me to do - actually managed most of it without having to resort to help.
Of course the subject of the exercise has great appeal as it's great to be able to share one's favourite titles with anyone who cares to read your blog. Can't wait to add to me list and also do something to make my Library look for appealing than just a list of titles.....

Image Generator

Another challenging exercise. Just couldn't decide which image to generate so decided on sharing an old English warning said to have come from a library in the home country. Seemed quite apt to me having just watched Part 2 of "The Tudors"...... certainly not for the faint-hearted that's for sure.
This website will be a really good one for me to use in future - something quite different.

RSS Part 2.

Quite liked Topix.net as it was user friendly as well as had an interest link to an article on South African people leaving the country because of crime levels - the link was to "The Star" a well known S.African newspaper. The article was a teaser though as once in "The Star" webside I saw some other interesting items I wanted to read but these were only accessible as a subscriber. Rats! Then ventured into Technorati which was okay........ and then on to Syndic8 which totally didn't happen.....no access through MCC!!

How I Discovered Flickr

I'm really chuffed (or as they say 'stoked') by sheer luck I happened upon the Flickr icon whilst searching the web. Curiousity got the better of me and a whole new world opened for me.
So exciting - got to see some great pics of 'wonderful waves worldwide' - my very own 'www'!, as well as some brilliant pics. Have included one of these finds on my blog..... made me so homesick.
Lovely memories .... can't wait to find some more to share with you.

Bloglines

Sussexmaid's bloglines

This has been a reeeeely interesting exercise. I am so glad that this hurdle is achieved!!! Thank you Lucy...... you are a life-saver....
I'm definately going to add some more RSS feeds .... need some more challenging ones. Watch this space!

My alter ego

Mmm.....Are you are wondering who this 'Surfer Girl' is? Well therein lies a bit of a tale (as there always is with me..... is that a clue or what?)
My introduction into the world, not too long ago, was living within pram-strolling distance from pebbly Brighton beach and the sound of waves making landfall off the English Channel. It was some time before I was able to live close to the sea again - apart from the annual 'trek' to the South African seaside from the Highveld for our Christmas holidays. It was whilst we were holidaying at The Wilderness, Eastern Cape that I was first introduced to the surfboard by my older brother. My most vivid memories are of almost drowning when the board and I parted company, becoming reunited when it made contact with my stomach and big brother Glyn saving me whilst berating me for nearly losing his board .............. Suffice to say my surfer days were curtailed somewhat and I am now a keen spectator, leaving it to my children to fulfil my sea-surfing dreams. I think I'll stick to the internet and not the waves!
